The New York Knicks Did It.
The New York Knicks understood the assignment and successfully secured their first finals win at the MSG, since 1973. Increasing their odds, of winning it all in the process.
The New York Knicks fans, definitely deserved, to get that win!!!!
However, it would be remiss to leave unaddressed, the actions of some Knicks fans. Violent sports fans are a stain on sports, wherever they show up. Violent Knicks fans, are a stain on what is supposed to be the greatest time in modern Knicks history.
With that being said, it one hundred percent is on the New York Knicks and even the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, to ensure that the violence is stopped immediately.
Lifetime bans need to be handed out like hot cakes at this point. Various clips of New York Knicks fans harassing/assaulting the Spurs team and/or fans have been going viral.
These ugly images threaten to tarnish the image of the NBA. Taking the spotlight off the court, away from the epic job that the Knicks have done. The Knicks and NBA response has to be just as dramatic as some of the scenes of violence have been. To ensure that the violence ends here and that the NBA finals can continue in peace.
Let’s Talk About De’Aaron Fox.
One of the funniest things about sports is the difference in perspectives between players and fans.
According to some fans, De’Aaron Fox, is the villain of game 4. The reason why the Knicks won. In actuality, these fans are just playing the blame game.
The reality is, no one knew what would happen as Fox ran a fast break that could have ended differently.
An honest debate probably needs to be had about whether De’Aaron was let down by the officials? If Fox was fouled during that fast break attempt, (and in hindsight, it does look that way). Then the truth is that Fox made the right play and should have gotten to shoot free throws with the Knicks then having less time left in the game.
Moreover, arguably Charles Barley is more accurate with his critiques being aimed at the Spurs overall – as opposed to – just on De’Aaron Fox.
Furthermore, the truth is that both teams at this point know that every play has counted in all four of these close games. Which ultimately means that both teams are culpable for the mistakes they made.
Moreover, to move past the Fox play and speculations about what could have been. The Knicks deserve credit for being a real team. The game winning play by OG Anunoby was a joint effort made possible by OG and Finals MVP favorite, Jalen Brunson.
If there’s one thing that’s amazing about this NBA Finals from a Knicks perspective. It’s that Jalen Brunson, Karl Anthony-Towns and now OG Anunoby, have all looked like Finals MVP winners at different times of this series.
The New York Knicks Got MVP’s – Plural!!!
Game 4 was undoubtedly the night, where OG Anunoby, shone like a Finals MVP. (Even though overall, Jalen Brunson probably deserves to get it).
OG’s putback, is easily one of the greatest putbacks in NBA history. Right up there will all of the clutchest NBA moments of all time. To the Spurs credit, they never made it easy for OG. Bro had, to, fight, to get that offensive rebound!!!!
Then to top it all, in this NBA era where the money, the three point shot and so many other things have taken away from the game. We saw a humble, gritty, thoroughly unflashy putback shot. Decide the fate of the fourth game of the NBA finals.
From a purist basketball fan’s perspective, that thing was the most beautiful thing we’ve seen in a while. Was it dunk, no! Was it a three pointer, no! Did OG break somebody’s ankles or anything????!!!!
Heck no, he grabbed a rebound and successfully executed a game-changing putback!!!! It’s hard to remember any time, if any, when a humble putback, was so huge!!!!!!!!!!
The Reason Why The New York Knicks Will Be World/NBA Champions.
Finally, if OG wanted to, he could have mailed that play/game in. Accepted defeat and tried again in game 5. However, that’s how other people play, OG and the New York Knicks are built different. OG fought to back up Jalen Brunson and the rest of his team.
The fact that these New York Knicks fight for each other, is the real, point blank reason why these New York Knicks will be the World/NBA Champions. Real Knicks fans will be savoring this moment and marinating on this fact.
