How We Can Get Greener As A Planet In 2026.

Greener Is Greater.

As mentioned in our last article, we all need to do our part to make the planet greener.

As 2025 draws to a close, now really is the time for the world to take widespread action to halt, reduce and eventually, make the world a greener place.

Some of us have the advantage of being born into wealth. Some of us have the advantage of being born into health. However, if we fail to make the planet greener. There unfortunately will come a day where an increasingly uninhabitable planet. Overshadows both of the natural advantages that life has afforded some of us.

The signs are there in broad daylights for Stevie Wonder and the rest of us to see. A new study has found that 22 of 34 of earth’s vital signs are “flashing on red”. Put a different way, getting greener needs to be an absolute priority for all governments world wide.

Furthermore, Hurricanes are particularly expensive, forms of natural disasters and whats worse, is they are trending upwards in intensity. Which is at least partly due to climate change causing warmer waters, which in turn fuel more intense Hurricanes.

With that being said, reducing carbon emissions worldwide has to be a top priority of governments worldwide. By and large, our world is defined by capitalism. Meaning that acquiring profit, is the aim of the game for most. Natural disasters are the exact opposite, of what capitalism is all about. As natural disasters are expensive for both citizens and governments alike.

Lets Choose To Use Our Initiative To Avoid Uncertainity Or Insecurity.

Dominicans and Puerto Ricans for example can readily attest to citizens that left in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and still, are yet to return. Undoubtedly, taking the initiative and fighting to make the world greener. Is way more preferable, than allowing the uncertainty following natural disaster, to become a reality.

However, the honest truth staring us in the face is that we all need to take responsibilty and do our part in order to reduce climate change. The earth’s population is currently around 8.2 Billion people. Some of those people are fighting poverty. Asking these people to also fight climate might be a bit much. Rather, for those of us who are at least surviving, we have no excuse.

All 8.2 Billion of us have a Carbon footprint and we all can help slow or reduce climate change by reducing our Carbon footprint to being around 2 tons per year. Currently, in the US, the average Carbon footprint is 16 tons a year. (How 2meas y cfp).

As a starting point we all need to be aware of these numbers as well as what we can do to reduce them.

According to world population review, the 14 countries with the highest rates of CO² emissions are: China (33.98%), US (12%), India (7.57%), Russia (5.3%), Japan (2.42%), Iran (2%), Indonesia (1.73%), Saudi Arabia (1.6%), Germany (1.49%), South Korea (1.47%), Canada (1.47%) Mexico (1.25%), Brazil (1.23%) and Turkey (1.12%).

As a bare minimum, discussion, especially academic, politicial and private sector discussion, needs to be had on how those CO² figures can be reduced. By all means, countries have a right to chase profit and economic development. However, the caveat or condition under which this has to happen is, that it needs to be done in a manner that is in harmony with the environment.

Hopefully, the US can one day soon, help lead the fight against climate change. As the US knows better than most, if not all developed economies, how expensive natural disasters fuelled by climate change is.

A “casual” look at both the amount of natural disasters and the amount of damage caused by these disasters. Indicates that the US is seeing an unprecedented amount of expenses (environment and financial). The simply truth is that if nothing has united humanity before, fighting climate change should be the first issue to do this. Despite appearances or traditional framing, the truth is that natural disasters brought about by climate change is the real, true, clear and present danger, even threat, to Capitalism.

The only way any of us can have peace of mind that the profits we earn from our endeavours are safe. Is if we all achieve success against climate change. From governments to citizens, everybody has to accept responsibilty and take action to have the best carbon footprint possible.

We literally have to start right now, from this moment, to see to it that 2026 is the year where we begin putting the brakes on global warming. If for no other reason than the sake of our pockets, but ideally for ourselves and humanity.

The Steps We Need To Take To Knock Out Climate Change As Soon A Possible.

Step number one is attacking the problem head on. That is, taking steps to reduce CO² emissions where they are being emitted the most. Obviously this starts with China but as a planet, we have to partner with China and the all top co² emissions producing countries, to support its progress against environmental decline.

The good news is that since March 2024, China’s CO² emissions have either been flat of falling. Now we just need to support China and all other countries who have high proportions of global CO² emissions to more speedily bring emissions down.

Which nicely opens the door for us to address another major player in the fight to make the world greener: citizens. The only way the fight to make the world greener can be won is if we are all on the same page. The only way we can achieve this is through communication.

Educational institutions world wide need to ensure that the youth of the world get the memo. Regardless of age or level of study, every student needs to be educated on the importance of making planet earth a greener place. Parents, by extension need to also get this memo via interactions with both their children and the educational institutions.

Governments and the media need to help ensure that the citizens of the world realise we are in an emergency, with no choice but to be ensure the planet becomes greener.

Another glaring issue that we all need to tackle head on is meat and/or dairy consumption from companies with a negative carbon footprint. Loving meat and dairy products is part of some people’s very identity. However, when that puts the entire planet at risk, a line has to be drawn. With the line being that meat needs to only be available from companies with a neutral or minimal carbon footprint. In 2026 governments need to ensure that companies producing meat and dairy food products with a significantly negative carbon footprint need to at least be taxed progressively. With the end goal being to make carbon neutrality be a prerequisite for a company being able to operate.

Finally, we all need to have an accurate idea of what our carbon footprint as individuals, cities, states, towns, villages etc. Vehicles that smell like pollution need to be given their notice. After a certain period of time, this vehicles need to be off the road. It is on governments to legislate all of this and police, to enforce it all.

So that we all can live on a planet where our profits are secure, and world is greener.
