Post 2026 Grammy’s, Vybz Kartel is still the biggest winner because Vybz Kartel has his liberty!!!!!
It’s kind of understandable why some Vybz Kartel fans are upset that Adidja never took home the Grammy.
However, as most fans have already conceded. Keznamdi definitely earned and deserved, that Grammy.
The People’s Champion.
Furthermore, as always, when you reach for new blessings and miss, it’s always good to remember all the old blessings that you still have.
In Vybz Kartel’s case, that “old blessing” is still very, very new and significant, his freedom!!!! Honestly speaking, the fact that Vybz Kartel fans can still see the Teacher free and happy, is all that should really count.
To this day, many hold Vybz Kartel in that, King of Dancehall category.
Furthermore, somewhat like a Marley, Vybz Kartel’s name and brand holds some serious weight. This literally means that any album released by Vybz Kartel, is likely to get Grammy consideration. The real conversation that needs to be had is, can the World Boss still make music, like Mr Palmer did at the peak of his powers???
Competing With The Man In The Mirror.
To be sure, Vybz Kartel has done so much that competing with himself is a tall order. Even if Vybz Kartel did win the Grammy. Would that Grammy outshine any of Adidja’s previous accomplishments? Probably not. The truth is Kartel has probably done everything that can be done in Dancehall already. Between this, having a family and making it back out of jail. It’s hard to see what else Kartel needs to do.
Honestly speaking, Kartel just needs to enjoy his life. Adding to his dancehall resumé is something that needs to come organically, from him living his best life. It is 2026, so much has changed and is changing.
Us Dancehall fans, need to allow the Teacher the space and grace to put his life in order post prison. Adidja has a whole family that he has to spend time with and enjoy. Dancehall is going nowhere.
Is Reggae Music The Way Forward?
Moreover, maybe Reggae Kartel would have had a better shot at winning the Grammy? Truthfully speaking, Reggae Music is now better aligned with the more conscious man that Mr Palmer has grown into. Another conversation that we all should probably be having is: maybe Kartel needs to put out more Reggae Music now?
Both Vybz and Spice have made songs that are Gospel leaning or actual Gospel songs. However, both fanbases are probably at least somewhat surprised to see/hear this. Reggae music though, would be a normal and natural fit for their brands, images and fanbases.
In addition to all this, there’s no need for Kartel to do all of the heavy lifting. Vybz Kartel, Spice, Popcaan, Rvssian, Tommy Lee Sparta etc etc. Are reminiscent of the national slogan. Now, is the time for Vybz Kartel to be a true King and simply make sure that his people are good.
Life feeds art. As long as Kartel takes care of himself, his family and his music family. By extension, the music will take of itself. Life over everything we seh. Win in real life and then sing about it. That is all Vybz Kartel has to do, period.
