Reggaeton Music is an essential part of life.
This is because life is simply way better with Reggaeton in it. Than it is without Reggaeton Music. Reggaeton Music is a call to action (more specifically, a call to dance). When a (top tier) Reggaeton song starts. It is an event. Energy levels begin to peak and fun times are definitely close by.
To be sure, every genre of music is unique. Each having their typical strengths, characteristics and even, topics that they normally tackle. Reggaeton, can normally be summarized as a sexy, party and celebratory, type of music. Again, it is music that you dance too. It is music that was designed to perform like an invisible wing man or woman. That helps bring people together and seamlessly go from being strangers, to lovers.
In a world where change is constant and can take place at a breathtaking pace. Having Reggaeton around, definitely takes the edge of. Moreover, the steady and relentless beat, speaks to the Marathon nature of life, that Nipsey Hussle often alluded to. That beat, is reminiscent of two things, the very heart beating in our chest’s and the tick tock of a clock or time, as life’s journey, continues.
As alluded to before, in different articles, the very beat of Reggaeton quietly admonishes humanity to: just, keep, going. At normally eighty to one hundred bpm (beats per minute). Reggaeton Music is no sprint, but again, it’s more like a marathon. Put a different way, Reggaeton is, for, life. It is also a lifestyle. One that prioritizes doing, being active, partying, meeting and interacting with people.
Given all of the face time (time in front of people’s faces) that living the Reggaeton lifestyle requires. Keeping up appearances and looking our best, is part and parcel, of living that Reggaeton life too.
It’s no wonder that Bad Bunny and Rosalía are sponsored by Calvin Klein.
After all, if there’s one thing about Caribbean culture and people, it’s that we have to look good when we party.
Reggaeton Music Is Caribbean
Which brings us to an important point. One of the main reasons we mess with Reggaeton is because it is a Caribbean genre of music. It is ours. It originated from within these shores and now, it influences the entire world. Granted, quality is always necessary whenever we choose to add or allow something to become a part of our lives. Nevertheless, this quality, is homegrown. With Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico and Hip Hop, being instrumental in the birth of what we now call Reggaeton.
We’d summarize Reggaeton as being sexy, party and celebratory music. However, all of the above, the partying, the sexiness, the celebrating, by and large is done Caribbean style. Admittedly, it would be a lie to say that all artists that make Reggaeton Music, come from the Caribbean. Rosalía, for example is from Spain. However, whilst Rosalía is from Spain. Reggaeton nevertheless, is, (for the most part) from the Caribbean.
Put differently, Reggaeton is nothing new to us but rather, Reggaeton is a different (life) style. A different way, for Caribbean people to do what we always have. That is, party, copulate and celebrate.
Diversity really is the spice of life. Having a variety of ways that we can celebrate and express our joy. Speaks to us living our best lives. As alluded to above, Reggaeton and also Latin Music in general, is a global game now. Bad Bunny headlining at the SuperBowl is the latest, undeniable evidence of this fact.
Which means, what has started out as a Caribbean party if you will, has now become a global party. How beautiful does that sound? Historically, the Caribbean has been on the wrong end of colonial forces with gloabl ambitions. However, in 2025, via Reggaeton and other Caribbean genres of music (e.g. Dancehall, Dembow, Salsa etc). Caribbean artists are seeking to take over the World so that we can all party as one, together. That, is a beautiful and even romantic, endeavour and one that deserves full support!!!!
Reggaeton’s Romantic Birth
Speaking of romantic. It could be argued that Reggaeton has the most romantic birth of any music genre. Reggaeton was literally born out of love and since day one – across language barriers. What’s music’s primary purpose? To make people feel good.
Well, Reggaeton was specifically born from Buju Banton’s Dem Bow song. The love for that song and more specifically, the production of that song. Was so profound that it inspired the creation of a whole new genre, made in its image. That genre of course being Reggaeton which went on to become one of the most influential and powerful genres of music, to this very day.
There’s a lesson in there somewhere. Reggaeton’s story speaks to the very power of music. It shows Music’s ability to touch, inspire and shape the very world within which we all live. The liberating thing about the power of music is that its inspiration can be free (in the monetary sense) and yet drive people to create music that generates hundreds of millions of dollars.
Everybody Loves A Winner
Let’s be honest, everybody loves a winner. With Bad Bunny headlining at the SuperBowl. It affirms that Reggaeton and Latin Music, at least to a certain extent, has taken over the world. Now, with that being the case, what do you want to do, join the party or join the petty? All wise people will like opt for the former because Reggaeton Music really is a whole lot of fun!!!! Admittedly, is very easy to romanticize Reggaeton. Forgetting the fact that Bad Bunny and others symbolize the best of what Reggaeton and Latin Music has to offer. However, Reggaeton artists, like every other artist of different genres – were created unequal.
Bad Reggaeton does exist but so does bad music in every other genre. As is often the case with us human beings, we like to interpret our lives and our view of the world. Based off of who is winning.
Most importantly, when it comes to music, us human beings probably support and consume the music that makes us, feel like we are the ones winning. Again, music, is all about how it makes us feel.
As noted in a different article. One of the main things about Rick Ross’ music is it celebrated getting to the bag in an inclusive way, that made the listener feel like they just “hit a lick” or, made some new money. After listening to a Rick Ross song.
Reggaeton started in the Caribbean and lives there but it has traveled throughout the globe and has global appeal because Reggaeton speaks to the needs of humanity. All human beings generally speaking, have the urge: to copulate, party, drink alcohol and dance!!!
Which means that all human beings can be characterized as a legitimate target market for Reggaeton artists. All Reggaeton needs is for its profile to be sufficiently raised to where the global masses become aware of Reggaeton Music. With Bad Bunny, performing at the SuperBowl. It’s safe to say that Reggaeton music is about to receive a rise in profile, that it has never experienced before. Translation: Reggaeton currently has an unprecedented upside.
