Nailah Blackman During Live Performance.

To Nailah Blackman With Love.

Even In The Mecca, Nailah Blackman Stands Out!

Nailah Blackman. Those two words mean something!!!!

Actually, those two words mean alot!!!!

Nailah Blackman embodies Soca Music, like few other Soca artists. Female or Male. To get specific, the only other comparable Soca Artists that also embody Soca Music are: Destra Garcia, Fay Ann Lyons and Denise (Saucy Wow) Belfon.

Comparing Destra Garcia and Nailah is problematic because of the difference in eras between the two. Similarly, Fay Ann Lyons has a Power Soca side to her that sets her apart from basically everybody else. In some ways, Nailah Blackman and Denise Belfon are comparable. What with their shared flair as bacchanalists that can perform. However, they clearly have significant differences in terms of style and era, too.

Truth be told, there is only one of all, the ladies mentioned above. Goodness knows, there definitely is only one Nailah Blackman!!!!

Which brings us full circle. Watching Nailah Blackman perform is like watching your doux darling perform. (Yes lol, that Christo song is so catchy!!!!) Doing so, gives you the chance to appreciate: her beauty, energy, passion, personality, dance, vocals and catalogue.

Born To Wear The Crown.

Moreover, with Nailah performing in total, for about an hour or more. It would be remiss to take for granted, just how much Nailah Blackman gives her fans when she performs. Just watching Nailah Blackman perform feels like a Workout (no pun intended). Sis, definitely gives us both quality and quantity.

Moreover, the Princess Of Sokah crown, that sits squarely on Nailah’s head is impossible to ignore too.

Nailah’s rookie days of trying to make it in Soca are well and truly behind her.

In 2026, if revellers were to follow Bunji Garlin and not go to no small fete:

They would more than likely find themselves at Sokah Origins. As Sokah Origins, in 2026, is the first big fete in the 2026 Trinidad Carnival Season.

In addition, apart from how hard Nailah works as a performer. It would also be remiss to overlook how much work Nailah Blackman puts into the Sokah Origins event. Nailah Blackman had Guyana’s Soca Monarch winner, perform. She also had Th3rd from the USVI perform. Blaka Dan performed at Sokah Origins, as did Skinny Fabulous and even more Caribbean artists, unmentioned here.

With it still to be seen if Soca Monarch in Trinidad will ever relive its Carnival days. None other than Nailah Blackman, is the one low/high key, picking up the slack via her very own Sokah Origins event. Princess Of Sokah indeed!!!!

Nevertheless, beauty, sex appeal, commercial appeal aside. The music, plus the energy and attention to detail with which it is performed. Is why true Soca fans love Nailah. Too many Soca artists, struggle to sing all their songs and make a (bad) habit out of leaning on the crowd to sing their songs for them. (Hopefully this will stop one day soon).

However, when it comes to Nailah Blackman, we never get cheated like this. Nailah gives us all she can, vocally and in terms of choreography too. Just imagine for a moment, being in Nailah’s shoes. At any given moment, Nailah has lyrics, tonality and choreography (to say this least), to focus on.

Most Artists, gives us far less than this. Nailah on the other hand gives us this and more!!!!! Like for example, fashion!!!!! In one performance, we also get between 3-6 different fashion looks from Nailah.

It’s giving effort, it’s giving work ethic, attention to detail and high standards. Despite having big shoes to fill. What with being the granddaughter of Soca Inventor, Lord Shorty (Garfield Blackman). It is nevertheless easy to see that Nailah Blackman has filled those shoes, in her own unique way. Whilst, simultaneously representing Trinidad and Tobago and Soca Music as a whole.

Soca Music, is anything but easy and it definitely seems underappreciated. However, thankfully, thanks to Nailah Blackman. Soca music is definitely alive!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully we all take a leaf out of Nailah Blackman’s book. Singing and dancing Soca indefinitely because Soca music is still our therapy, as Patrice Roberts would say.

At Sokah Origins, Nailah Blackman shared her love with us.

However, dear Nailah Blackman, the love is mutual. All true Soca fans, love you too!!!!!!!!
