The (Little) Best Thing About Living In The Caribbean.

The (Little) Best Thing About Living In The Caribbean.

The best thing about living in the Caribbean is the sight you see when you look out of the window.

The Beauty Of Nature In The Caribbean.

Instantly, you know that you are in the Caribbean. Imperfect yes, but many Caribbean citizens have long learned to love the Caribbean despite any imperfections. Which arguably, is what real love does anyway (love us, imperfections and all). After all, imperfections abound everywhere: crime, climate change, etc etc are a problem everywhere. With this being the case, better to at least be in the comfort of one’s island (Caribbean) home. Than to be subject to feeling homesick on top of the global issues that we all face.

In fact, nature is a highly relevant source of inspiration for times like these because, what is more adaptable or resilient as nature? Despite the damage humans have done to this planet. Despite how much we have taken without regard to sustainability. The world is still full of beauty everywhere we look (especially in the Caribbean). Nature silent example of resilience, staying power and continued beauty lets us know that we can choose to embody these attributes too.

Nature, Our Ally.

If there are countless reasons for us to cry and feel pain. In nature, life shows us that we also have an ally that is limitless. Whenever our vibes feel too low, we can choose to disconnect from our troubles and use nature to recharge our energy with positivity.

Nature’s beauty reminds us that beauty is an indelible part of life. As permanent and unchanging as a high quality tattoo. It’s okay to have this reminder when we are on top and all is going our way. However, as the saying goes, a friend in need, is a friend indeed. Similarly, it is when life seems to be against you that nature’s beauty becomes a particularly timely reminder. Letting you know that it is the negative situations that you are facing which is temporary, whilst positivity is permanent.

Moreover, in the (Caribbean/West Indian) Islands, if the humans fail to give you love, at least nature will. Nature’s beauty is like an unimaginary friend, ever present, saying little but smiling much. Radiating positive energy your way letting you know no matter what, that you’ve got this. Eventually, everything will be okay and that in the mean time, to partake in a piece of peace because somehow you know nature is right.

Much like Phil Knight reflected and mentioned in his book Shoe Dog, in the islands (especially Trinidad and Tobago) we can see the birds freely living their best lives. Which gives us hope that if the birds can be so calm, productive and chill. We can probably manage to do the same and more too.

Nature helps us offset life’s imbalances. When the sun is too hot we either find shade or cool off with a sea bathe. To varying degrees we can eat the fruit born of the land wherein we live, to stave off hunger and malnutrition (sometimes for free).

Using Nature To Decompress & Beat Stress.

If stress is a natural killer. Nature is a natural stress killer. So whilst life in the islands is imperfect. We are okay with taking on all bets on our home turf/ground because for us, the local terrain provides us with a hidden advantage.

Here in the Caribbean\West Indian Islands the power of nature is more accessible and apparent. The natural benefits that being in the islands affords, grant us a significant payoff that touches on the emotional, psychological and even spiritual.

Home is where the heart is and there are a few things that money is unable to afford that being home can. So, we would like to admit that everyday above ground is a good day, especially if that day is spent above ground in the Caribbean, West Indies.
