Lila Iké Treasure Self Love Album Review

First of all big up the gorgeous Lila Iké!!!!

1) Scatter

By Lila Iké is an upbeat tune, where the tone is more belligerent, firm but yet and still, feels like a warning shot more than anything. Ultimately, Scatter is a tune where Lila Iké warns her enemies of the futility of coming for her.

The song also is a prayer, where Lila literally is asking God to make her enemies Scatter. Which is where the song feels somewhat belligerent and like a War Cry. This song can be categorized as Reggae Fusion. Moreover, Lila Ike’s flow is married to the very rhythm of this tune.

So far, the song is the most viewed one from the album. This makes sense because the song lacks for nothing. In it Lila Iké gives the listener top tier vocals and lyrics. Style and substance. For all of these reasons, it’s fair to say that Lila understood the assignment. Lastly, if you find yourself facing many challenges in life right now, Scatter, just might be your new theme song!!!!

2) Too Late To Lie

Is the heartbreak song of this album. The song speaks to loving someone that you realise is unable to reciprocate those feelings. Which means the relationship is unsalvageable.

What is particularly heartbreaking is it sounds like all of this happened at a time when things were already challenging for Lila. On a brighter note though, the attention to detail on this project really shines through. The production is exceptional. This is definitely top tier Reggae Music on relatable topic that most people experience: heartbreak. Unsurprisingly, Lila Ike is able to even make good music, out of a sad topic. Big up her!!!!

3) Sweet

Is a straight up Reggae song where Lila Iké admits to her lover that being with her can be sweet but also spicy too. It deals with two people having found each other knowing that there is potential for a real love to grow.

However, before all of that, through this song, Lila is letting the person know that she has a spicy side in addition to her sweet side, too. That Lila takes the time to do this is of course, sweet. It also is relatable and vulnerable. Which will only make all true Lila Iké fans, only love her even more.

4) Fry Plantain Ft Joey Bada$$

Is another fusion track that is giving Soulful Reggae, meets Hip Hop. An eclectic juggling of beautiful music genres for sure. The song is like water, with the flexibility to flow this way and that, yet never going too far away from home because, home is where the fried plantain is right?

Notwithstanding, when Joey Bada$$ begins to spit, the track takes a Hip Hop turn fast!!!! That is, until Joey decides to turn up some of the Reggae vibes. Which should come as no surprise, given Joey’s Jamaican and Caribbean roots.

For four minutes and sixteen seconds, Fry Plantain takes us all on a journey through Reggae, Soul and Hip Hop that we normally never get to take, which makes the whole journey so much fun!!!!

One of the things this song drives home is that Lila Iké has a musical palette that is open to several influences. Reggae Music is quite obviously Lila’s roots and at her core.

However, the way Reggae, Soul and Hip Hop is fused together is extremely unique and novel. To be frank, only Lila Iké could have put it all together quite like this. When the listener presses play on this one, they are definitely getting something they could get no where else!!!!

Finally, on this track Lila Iké spins the block and delivers a second verse to close the song out in super strong fashion!!!! This tune is definitely a keeper!!!!

5) All Over The World Ft Protoje

Lila Iké continues with the theme of love and paying her dues to the greats of Reggae that came before her.

In this tune Lila Iké pays homage to the legendary Barington Levy. However, Lila lets her Starpower and quality, shine through on this track as she sets her sights on spreading Reggae Music worldwide. This track is simply a flawless one. With Lila and Protoje both understanding the assignment. The tone, energy and vibes of this track is lighthearted, happy and celebratory.

This is sweet Reggae Music, to party, be happy to and celebrate!!!! Just like Lila Iké’s Treasure Self Love should be celebrated.

6) Romantic Ft Masicka

This tune may be some people’s favorite tune from the Album: Treasure Self Love. The video is a whole vibe as almost every inch of it oozes and screams 90’s Dancehall.

Lila Iké shows Patra pure and plenty, of love, as Patra’s voice is one of the first things we hear as the track starts.

Lila’s sweet like sugar vocals definitely understood the assignment, plus Lila’s lyrical skills and flow also shine through clearly on this one. If all that was insufficient, Masicka comes in to close the deal as everybody involved helps makes sure that Dancehall Music is nice again!!!!
This is authentic Dancehall Music, Lila Iké they could never come take fi fraud!!!!

7) All That And More.

Is an amazingly beautiful and intimate song that opens up with Lila Iké letting her significant other know it’s okay to cry, be emotional and have fear/pain.

That type of love is non toxic, reassuring and extremely positive. The first thing the listener hears is the piano. Next up is Lila Iké who wastes no time getting straight to the point as just outlined above.

Titled All That And More, the main message here is that there is a lot more to us than our emotions or the act of crying. This song is definitely true to the album’s title. Furthermore, this song is easily one of the deepest tunes on the album. To be certain, this song is so deep that one has to really pay attention to catch all that Lila is saying in this one.

Between Lila Iké’s vocals, Maverick Sabre’s, the Piano, Harp and Choir featured in this song, there really is more beauty featured in this song, than is the norm. Full respect to everybody that was a part of this most beautiful project.

8) He Loves Us Both featuring H.E.R.

As well as Joey Bada$$ in the video. This tune is like a Reggae x RnB fusion that simply is amazing music. Lila Iké’s vocals is the common theme running through all eleven songs on the Treasure Self Love Album.

However, in He Loves Us Both, the listener is blessed with two instead of the usual one, melodic female voice. The combination of Lila Iké’s vocals with that of H.E.R.’s is insane. Immensely pleasing and very hard to get over. He Loves Us Both is the type of track that causes listeners to put that thing on repeat until they eventually get enough. However, the track is so good that they honestly may never get over it.

Furthermore, finding yourself in the middle of a love triangle (polyamorous relationship) is something most of us can relate to. Most of the time it is by accident, however, once again, Lila Iké’s penchant for tackling topics that are relatable adds to the authenticity of this piece of work. All of which will likely make this album resonate with all who listen to it.

Finally, whoever produced this song definitely deserves their flowers. Reggae is the main genre that shines through in this track but it’s different from the usual Reggae sound. This is Reggae experimentation and creativity, done right!!!!

9) Serious

Feels like a break up song. Like Lila Iké has been in a relationship that has been bad for some time that has now reached breaking point. Whether this tune speaks to an actual relationship or just a part of life that Lila is tired of dealing with, is anybody’s guess. Either way, Lila Iké has definitely made a beautiful piece of art with this track.

10) Brighter Days

Is a funky, motivational tune that bids the listener to keep on keeping on until they see a brighter day. More than just hope for a brighter day, Lila allows herself the space to share what some of those darker days feel like.

Which makes the tunes come across as being hundred percent real. This is because the listener gets to feel what the darker days feels like. Which then makes it really easy for the listener to understand the desire behind wanting Brighter Days.

As mentioned in a previous article, life’s duality is inescapable. Which means no matter who we are, we all know what it feels like to experience highs and lows. For this reason, the message of hope that this song contains, should speak to all that hear this song. Thereby adding value to every single listener’s life that is blessed with hearing this track.

11) Love In A Lovely Way.

Almost immediately, two things stand out as soon as this track begins. First is Lila Iké’s exceptional vocals as seconds in, Lila Iké begins to let her emotions out by way of her voice.

Second to Lila’s vocals, is the Guitar. That helps set the rhythm and tone of this, peaceful, soulful and melodic tune.

With the title of Lila Iké’s new album being: Treasure Self Love. Love In A Lovely is a song that effortlessly ties in with this Album’s Title. In this tune, Lila lets her romantic side show and the listener in as she shows us how much she believes in love.

There is something very personal and intimate about this song from Lila Iké. Who always seems to find time to show love to the Reggae greatness that came before her. One of the many epic parts of this tune is how it expertly features a sample from the legendary Garnett Silk.

Turn to this song anytime you feel like your reserves of love need a top up!!!!

To ensure we get more albums from Lila Iké, please be sure to support this her debut album please and thanks!!!!
