Keznamdi Scores Shock Win At The Grammy’s.

Rasta Woman Happy Keznamdi Won At The Grammy's

Thankfully Keznamdi, Has Won At The Grammys. Honestly, it is shocking to say those words. That Keznamdi has won Best Reggae Album At The Grammys is a shock because, the artists profile (inside and) outside of Jamaica is pretty low.

Moreover, we’d like to bet that many Jamaicans have now found out about Keznamdi, after his Grammy win.

A Quick Look At Reggae Profile’s In Reggae Music.

Perhaps the reason why Keznamdi has a “low profile” in Reggae Music, is the same reason why Reggae artists generally do. Reggae, unlike most other genres, tends to be a music with a prominent moral compass. Artists that get involved with Reggae Music, tend to be big on faith, spirituality and community.

Which tends to mean that Reggae artists make Music for the love as opposed to the likes (as Chronixx would say). Lastly, for all of these reasons, Reggae artists tend to only get recognition/buzz/momentum – when they earn it by creating hits.

All things being considered, nothing happens before its time and it certainly seems like this is just how things were meant to be. Maybe there is no Kez fanbase, actively sharing the music and news of what Keznamdi is doing. However, as usual, Reggae Music is its own marketing tool.

To be sure, there is something very beautiful and organic about this. As things stand, the Grammy win is like a world wide notification or call to action, prompting folks to investigate Kez’s music for themselves.

Leaving people to freely form their own opinions of the relevance and quality of the music that Kez has made. Leaving Reggae fans the space to form their own, real opinions, on some similarly, real Reggae music.

In a world where many artists use financial power to make a musical impact.

Keznamdi is capable of being exempt from all of this and continuing the Reggae tradition of letting his music, speak for itself.

With that being said, here’s Keznamdi performing Pressure LIVE:

Keznamdi The Opposite Of Soja.

Keznamdi winning Reggae Album Of The Year at the Grammy’s is reminiscent of when Soja won. For many, the intial reaction was, who is that? (For those unfamiliar with the name and/or music).

However, there is/was one significant difference. Keznamdi’s music emphatically supports the notion that the win is well deserved. Much like in the above video. Keznamdi’s music in general comes across as the authentic voice of Jamaica.

Highly relatatable, authentic and powerful.

This music has no need for a fanbase to actively push it because it is powerful enough to do so on its own merits. We’ve just seen the music propel Kez to his first Grammy win.

Beating out the likes of Vybz Kartel, Lila Iké, Mortimer and Jesse Royal. This signals a new day for Kez because whereas prior, it seemed that Keznamdi’s brand awareness was lower than his peers. The Grammy win is (recent) proof, that Kez’s brand/music is capable of beating out the other (more well known brands/artists).

Given the quality of Kez’s music and the possiblity of momentum being achieved, the sky is definitely the limit. Put a different way, Kez may well continue to make history. Only time will tell, but who in their right mind, would bet against Keznamdi now?
