We made it through to a new year.We survived one hundred percent of the things that the haters threw at us.
No doubt, 2025 sent a lot of curve balls our way. It sort of comes with the territory. Part and parcel of being human is being unable to see the future. So undoubtedly your 2025 and ours, came with its fair share of surprises. Nevertheless, the bottom line is, we’re blessed to see another year through.
Looking back, 2025 definitely came with some unforgettable moments.
Undoubtedly though, one of the greatest highlights was seeing Machel Montano and The Burning Flames share the same stage together.
Legends Live Forever.
Soca Music has its fair share of legends. However, that moment, was definitely, a pinch me, am I dreaming moment. Like Machel Montano says in the clip below, The Burning Flames are considered by some to be the best Caribbean Band ever!!!!
Moreover, as any self respecting Machel Montano fan will tell you, Machel Montano is the King Of Soca. Considered by many Soca fans to be the greatest Soca Artist ever. Having all of that rareness, that exceptional talent together on one stage. Well, yes, as previously stated, it is the kind of moment one deems unforgettable.
Right now, even as we are mere hours away from the new year (2026). The truth is Machel Montano, The Burning Flames and Soca Music are all still, very underappreciated at home and away. However, the truth is that all legends and celebrities struggle to get the flowers that they deserve.
It’s so easy for anyone’s legacy to fall between the cracks of people’s attention spans and awareness. People are only aware of what they see and some things happened before people were born. T Pain for example recently spoke on his huge legacy being shrunk down to the couple of tracks that the Gen X or Z or whatever, were aware of.
Moreover, arguably, the bulk of true greatness happens offline (maybe when no one or at least very few people, are watching).
You Only Need One New Year’s Resolution.
Nevertheless, the right reason for making Soca Music, is love. Love never has regrets and for all those that Love Soca Music, The Burning Flames and Machel Montano are legends that will live forever.
As we prepare to welcome in the New Year, hopefully this lesson of love is the one that we take with us.
In 2026, spend your time only on doing what you love to do. It’s okay to make temporary sacrifices to get to where you want to be permanently. However, nothing is okay, with permanently giving up on what you know you will always love. (This refers to: life purpose only). Never love a person that has no love for you, that will only take you backwards.
As we prepare to meet 2026, it is time to make it all count. The less time and opportunities we waste, the more likely it is that 2026 ends up being our best year ever.
Lastly, both tomorrow and 2027 are unpromised to us. Therefore, we all need to aspire to make 2026 our best year yet because we have no idea if we will even see 2027.
That could sound negative but the positive (other) side of the coin is, it is both realistic and the perfect motivation for us to leave nothing on the table. On the contrary, the only rational option that we are left with is to aspire to give 2026 our all.
