Man enjoying listening to Dancehall Music

14 Lit, Brand New Dancehall Songs.

Dancehall Music Is Back!!!!

So, when Vybz Kartel said Dancehall was in jail, referring to himself. He rightfully, or wrongfully received some criticism – especially from his peers – other Dancehall Artists. However, Vybz Kartel may have been on to something.

Nevertheless, one thing is undeniably true. Vybz Kartel is back out on road and Dancehall Music, is back on top of things!!!!

Okay so, Dancehall in the sense that these songs have been put out by Dancehall Artists.

As, if we are being specific, some of the songs featured in this last are technically either a fusion or a Jamaican Artists experimenting with another music genre.

Well, now that we’ve got the specifics and technicalities out of the way. Let’s start!!!!

Talk A Di Town – Charly Black

It seems some people feel like or want Dancehall to be a popularity contest. That is, a celebration of the Dancehall Artists that they like on a personal level. However, Dancehall should be free of politics. It should be about the music, first, before anything else.

With that being said, Talk A Di Town by Charly Black is a song from a Dancehall Legend who has a record of success and a catalogue that proves the quality of his work.

Authenticity is something that has to be earned and can never be bought. That is why Charly Black’s music and this song is valuable. With this song art and reality are more or less, one.

Dream Big – Valiant & Templeboss

This song is about money, luxury and the ambition and drive that makes a man have these things and still want more. One thing about Valiant that stands out from many other Dancehall artists is the fact that he to some degree, is Dancehall’s answer to Drake.

Like Drake, Valiant’s music toggles between Valiant the lyricist and Valiant the singer. With that being said categorizing this song is anything but straightfoward. The best way to describe this song musically is a mix of Dancehall, Hip Hop and RnB.

If you want a relaxing song where money and luxury are the main themes, this is your song.

Bad Everyday – Teejay, YGR.

Dancehall has been in War Mode lately. With Bad Everyday, Teejay joins the action with this Gun Song. It seems like all the warring going on has influenced Teejay to drop this tune.

Which serves as a warning shot to anybody even thinking, about speaking Teejay’s name disrespectfully. The bright side of this is, when Dancehall Artists get all of this war stuff off of their chests, there will only be one thing left to do, party!!!!!

Titanic – Skillibeng

Want to know which other Dancehall Artist is in a belligerent mood? Skillibeng. The tune is almost definitely called Titanic because when Skillibeng starts firing, people get to diving for their escape, Titanic style.

Dexta Daps x CJTheChemist – Champagne

Want to know who is the next Dancehall Artist to join the mood of War in Dancehall? Dexta Daps. Looooooooooooool. Just joking of course!!!!

Champagne is a continuation of what Dexta Daps is known for – putting out top tier Dancehall Sex Songs. If you love Dexta Daps for this reason, you will love this song!!!!

Shaneil Muir – Likkle Miss

This is another sexy Dancehall song but this time, it’s a song from the female side of things. One of the best things about this song is how it is actually is a Dancehall song with classic Dancehall riddims contained within it. The only way this song could be better is if Shaneil added another verse to it.

The song is only 2:17 seconds long. Dancehall fans well would have accepted more from Shaneil Muir because this song is tough. Lastly, a video would potentially have made this tune shell down the dancehall world even more. However, we will take what we get and appreciate it because Shaneil Muir definitely hit the target with this tune!!!!

Key Man – Alkaline

With all the shots flying around in Dancehall now. Alkaline rightly felt it was a great time to drop this song and remind Dancehall fans that he Alkaline, is a key man in this genre called Dancehall Music.

Alkaline delivers with the air of a man that has done and seen it all in Dancehall because that is exactly who and what Alkaline is. Alkaline has the catalogue, lyrical prowess and performing ability, that few Dancehall artists can boast of. Key Man indeed.

One Million Bees – Popcaan.

This tune is real music for real people that personally know, how real the struggle is to realise your dearest dreams. Some of the main themes of this song is having few people to trust in, resilience, faith and perseverance.

The video gives some insight into the fact that the struggle never ends, even after success. As humans, we can always be better and achieve better. This video shows that Popcaan is still striving for better and to overcome challenges, despite his status of a living Dancehall Legend.

Mr Masicka.

Masicka’s name has to be one of the most spoken name’s in Dancehall right now. Given the Dancehall War with Tommy Lee Sparta and by extension the whole Gaza and the King Of Dancehall, Vybz Kartel himself.

All Masicka fans have to be proud of Masicka for proving himself to be lyrically trigger happy during war. As Masicka has (rightfully?) taken aim at Vybz Kartel, The Gaza and Tommy Lee Sparta. To be fair to Masicka, every last one of his shots have been in response (self defense).

Nevertheless, everybody knows to shoot at the King and miss, could be a career altering mistake. With all this uncertainty in the air, Masicka (again, rightfully) has put out a lot of (non war) music. To let his music speak for him and remind the world that he is exceptional at what he does and a real artist. Despite what his detractors might say (because of the war that is going on).

Low key, this is Masicka’s way of saying, none of them are like me and as we’re all unique, he is right.

Source – Masicka.

Is a love song, where Masicka shows his vulnerable and emotional side by communicating his feelings of love. This song is for everybody that’s bae’d up, or, that at least wants to be.

Lifetime – Masicka.

Follows on with the romantic vibes. Declaring that his love will last a lifetime. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of music Masicka would put out if he found love? This song, is your answer. The song is laid back, soft, gentle and feels like being in your comfort zone with your special somebody.

Whine All Night – Masicka

Is a very different sound from Masicka. The beat and video is classy, with elements of Jazz in the riddim. The lyrics range from sex, to luxury and intimacy in general. There is even some Afrobeats vibes in this track. It sounds like nothing else any other Dancehall has put out which, is Masicka’s way of ensuring survival, despite the war.

Shot Me Down – Masicka

Is about Masicka being in love, against his will. Masicka is saying that his love interest, has shot him down with love. Even Masicka in this song, outlines the irony of a Warrior getting shot down with love. However, this is one of the reasons why the song is relatable. Is love a conscious choice we make, or do some people just have the key that unlocks our love?

After all the warring that Masicka has been involved in, maybe all this good (love) music, is some self prescribed therapy for Masicka. Whatever is going on it seems that Masicka is making all of the right moves. Although some would disagree with this and it is obviously up for debate.

Please – Masicka

With this song, Masicka goes away from the love vibes and instead pulls up on Lust Avenue. Nevertheless as the song’s title indicates, Masicka is still in need (physically, of loving).

However, the subject of this song, is definitely sex, as opposed to love.

Top Of The World – Masicka

Is a feeling many men can relate to. That feeling of being completed by someone else’s presence. The feelings of security and warmth that come from having love, have Masicka feeling on top of the world.

Having Masicka paint this beautiful picture of what love is, is extremely special because arguably, the times where this is done is too few, in Dancehall Music.
